It’s a great option if you’re just learning how to crochet a scarf or if you’ve been at it awhile. The long, varied texture of this crochet scarf pattern is beautiful and a lot easier than you would expect. Crochet yourself a winter scarf for the colder seasons or treat your friend to a handmade present.

Learn to make a scarf using my step by step Crochet Fundamentals video course. I teach your 3 patterns in this course that help you perfect and crochet technique.

I’ve made a lot of free crochet scarf patterns, but this is one of the most beautiful and unique in my opinion. And since this scarf is so easy to make, you’ll find yourself making them in different colors to coordinate with multiple outfits.

They also make an amazing gift and with Christmas around the corner, crochet winter scarf patterns make great gifts for everyone in the family.

Fringe

Cut 13” strands of yarn: 24 strands of color A, 36 strands of color B, 8 strands of color C. Matching the fringe color to the row color, attach sections of fringe to the ends of each rows (short edges of scarf) as follows:

  • Hold 2 strands of the matching color together, and fold in half forming a loop at one end. Match the cut ends of the yarn on the other end.
  • Insert your hook into the edge of the row and pull the loop about halfway through.
  • Draw the loose ends through the loop, over the edge of the scarf. This forms a knot.
  • Holding the top of the fringe in one hand, pull gently on the fringe ends with your other hand, tightening the knot until it’s secure.

After you have attached all the sections of fringe, trim the ends so that they are even.
