Easy Wear Crochet Cardigan Pattern
If you haven’t made a garment before, it’s best to start with an easy pattern. The easy wear cardigan is simple to make and has a classic silhouette.
Cardigans can seem intimidating, but if you find an easy pattern, you can crochet one in no time. This cardigan sweater has a boxy shape with ribbed banding around the bottom and neckline. And as far as cardigans for women go, this one is relatively simple.
While the silhouette is classic, this crochet cardigan pattern uses a unique stitch. The crumpled griddle stitch is thick and textural. It really adds a special detail to this crochet sweater.
This particular crochet cardigan calls for 8 skeins of Babe Soft Cotton Chunky Solids yarn in moonlight. It’s a chunky cotton acrylic blend. It can be thrown in the washer and dryer as long as you use the gentle cycle. It’s durable and really soft, perfect for this beginner friendly cardigan pattern.

February 1, 2019 at 4:53 AM (2 years ago)Can you please clarify the 2nd row. It states
Rows 2-56: Do not ch, sc into the 2st sc from the previous row. *Dc into the dc of the previous row, sc in the next sc of the previous row. (53 st)
Does it mean sc into the 2nd st or sc into the 2 sts.
Thanks for clarifying and thanks for a beautiful sweater pattern.

February 26, 2019 at 10:16 AM (2 years ago)This looks like I could make this cardigan for myself, I might use an acrylic yarn though the same texture, I’ll play around with different yarns. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful pattern!

July 25, 2019 at 11:55 AM (2 years ago)Two things I did differently to make it work:
When it says 2st, I assumed it to mean the last single crochet.
For the sleeves, ch 44 instead of 45. All the stitch counts are decreased by 1.
The paid pattern does have these changes.

February 15, 2020 at 7:40 AM (1 year ago)I do not understand Row 5 of the sleeve. Does that mean to decrease and if it does when it says to dc in the next dc , the next stitch is a sc.
