Easy ‘Done in a Day’ Crochet Baby Blanket
One thing I love about crochet is the ability to gift it to others. I’m constantly making gifts for others. But most recently, I wanted to tell you about a crochet baby blanket I made for some family friends. I found out that the couple who have been helping to clean our Airbnb suite were going to be taking a break. They had a great reason – they’re having a baby!
Crochet baby blanket patterns are so versatile. They come in different baby blanket sizes and colors and shapes. That’s why they’re such great presents.
This pattern is perfect if you don’t know how to crochet a blanket. It’s very beginner friendly. This easy crochet baby blanket is super fast to make. Hence why it’s called “Done in a Day.”
It was the perfect baby blanket crochet pattern for me because I only had a couple of days to prepare something. It was important that we show our appreciation and I decided a baby blanket crochet gift was the perfect way to do so.
I started working on this easy crochet blanket on Wednesday night around 8 pm. Most free crochet baby blanket patterns take forever. But this blanket had to be ready by Friday at noon when they came to help us one last time. If you’re ever in a similar situation, scouring through baby blanket patterns, this will be your lifesaver. It will teach you how to crochet a baby blanket easily and quickly.
I ransacked my yarn stash and found enough yarn to create something that would be appropriate for a baby boy blanket. I wanted something that would add definition to crochet stitches for baby blankets. It’s also important to find soft yarn for crocheted baby blankets. Babies have sensitive skin after all.
In under 24 hours my project was complete and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out – especially with yarn that I already had and in such a short amount of time.
This chunky crochet blanket is about as easy as it gets. As long as you can chain and double crochet, you can make this double crochet baby blanket. Feel free to change up the colors and customize this for either gender or to go with the nursery decor.
I chose to make this simple crochet blanket with Berroco Comfort Chunky which is a really dreamy yarn. If you spend more than $80 a year on yarn (appx $7 a month), I highly recommend checking out Dollar Yarn Club to pick up some yarn for this project. It’s a totally free service and they send you email alerts when yarn is on sale from your favorite companies for really, really cheap. You can get a free membership to the service here.
