There are just some things you can never have enough of and totes fall perfectly into that category. I always like to have extra totes around for shopping, going to the beach, taking drinks and snacks with me while I watch my daughter at her gymnastics competitions and taking my latest crochet project with me wherever I go.

This crochet tote is a perfect size to stash towels, magazine, lunch or whatever you want to fill it with. The tighter crochet stitch pattern means you don’t have to worry about losing hooks, pencils or other small items out the sides.

CROCHET STITCH OF THE MONTH – THE ALIGNED COBBLE STITCH

Welcome to my monthly stitch of the month post. This month I’m featuring an easy crochet stitch called the Aligned Cobble Stitch.

I fell in love with this stitch for one reason…the texture. Isn’t it just divine! It has a lovely raised pebble sort of look to it and the symmetry in the pattern is great for all those people out there who like the clean and tidy look.

Not only does this stitch look amazing, the aligned cobble stitch is also ridiculously easy to crochet. It’s the perfect stitch for someone who’s new to crochet but looking for a little more adventure.

As long as you can single crochet and triple/treble crochet you can crochet this sweet little stitch.

Check out some of my patterns that use the Aligned Cobble Stitch including the Aligned Cobble Anytime Tote, the Aligned Cobble Stitch Fingerless Gloves and the Aligned Cobble Tea Towel Crochet Pattern.

Aligned Cobble Stitch Pattern

In U.S. terminology

  • sc = single crochet
  • tr = triple crochet

Start by chaining multiples of 2 + 2 to the desired length.

Row 1: Insert your hook into the 2nd chain from the hook, sc in each chain until the end of the row. Turn.

Row 2: Ch1, sc into the ch space below, *tr into the next stitch, then sc into the next stitch*. Rep until the end of the row ending with a sc in the last ch stitch.

Continue Rows 1-2 until you have reached the desired length for your project.
